    linky articles

    Few items of note:

    "Rocket up your Zunehole!"
(you can join my social via this Live account)

Do you know how to get involved?  Torture is torture is torture.  I don't understand how one human being can do this to another.  Yeah yeah - brain wash, intense training whatever...it's still a human being on the other end.

    linky's

How freaking comfortable do these look?  It's like walking on clouds...Lipstick Red, size 9 please

Summer beverage anyone?  This would be AMAZING!  Especially with some gin.

These candles are divine.  Although I do have trouble buying them online because you never know...  Unless it is a scent you have tried before.

I love the idea of magnetic, chalk walls for A's room.  Although, now that I've seen the mess chalk makes on the sidewalk, I think I would opt for just magnetic.

You know what - if you had a butter knife stuck in your head, would you really want to be telling the news media?

Word on the street is Beck and The Watchmen will be at Bumbershoot this year.  Oh yeah...

    Friday & Linky's

I've decided I'm going to start coloring.  I bought this coloring book a few weeks ago, and yesterday I picked up some good colored pencils.  My goal is to do something that is somewhat creative, and a relaxation for my brain.  I collapsed last night into bed at 8:30pm in front of the TV.  I had worked the previous three nights on my work laptop for minimum 2.5 hours.  Each night.  Yesterday, my brain said no way.  It can wait.  Nothing is that important.  So it occured to me during Lost, coloring would be good.  Let's go back to childhood and let loose (even if it isn't of the Disney Princess Coloring book variety).

In other news, I got a mail from BuyOlympia today.  Check out this kewl stuff...

    few linky's

These are all from Daily Candy:

    • Gorgeous letterpress stationary...drool!
    • I could spend lots of money here on very pretty things.  Violet
    • This could be a nice anniversary gift. Especially since my husband has an appreciation of Pulp Fiction.
    • Fancy things for kids that my daughter will never have.  Because they will get super dirty and ruined.  No child I know lives in such a bubble.  And if they do, hope the parents are putting away the therapy fund.
    • I LOVE this elephant necklace from Wink

    too many linky's

I've been collecting mail over the holidays for a marathon list of linky's for your personal enjoyment...

    Following provided by Daily Candy:
    • Free Rice.  Keep your brain sharp and feed those in need.  Win-Win situation here.
    • One of my recent favorite cocktails...French 75:  Combine ¾ oz. gin, ½ oz. fresh lemon juice, and ½ oz. simple syrup. Shake, strain into a champagne flute, top with champagne, and garnish with a twist.
    • Fresh, delivered baked cookies?  Sign me up!!
    • Make a suggestion on improvements for our region - Should Do This
    • Mmmm...Sugar Bakery...on Madison
    • I'm becoming so intrigued by design and simplicity in decoration.  I love sites like this.
    • Viv & Ingrid - simple, classy jewels for day and night.

Hm...I had a Huffington Post entry I wanted to link to as well.  But didn't save that mail and now cannot find it.  Must not have been that good huh?

    December 08

I spend WAY too much time on the internet!

I spent the day at the spa.  And when I say I spent the day there...I showed up at 9:30 so I could work out before my treatments, then had a massage, then lunch, then facial, then pedi...it was almost 4pm when I exited.  Boy, do I love the spa.  Especially extra massaging.  My body is like jello today...

    more linky's

Post office drawback cited in dark forecast for Netflix.  Really?  Why can't Netflix order new envelopes along the lines of what the other won't-be-named business is doing?  Sure, may be a hit for new envelopes, but wouldn't that be better in the long term?  Does no one at the top understand this?

Funny observation on parenthood from Dooce.

    From Daily Candy:

      • The Passionate Collector, beautiful and unique jewelry
      • This is a shout out to my Geeky Mama, Chewbacca USB Drive.
      • Wish we had this Monster Spray when the Dinosaur Zoo was still open.  Although the Princess Spray may come in handy for making sure A has good dreams (which she often asks us to "put" into her head at night time)

And, by the way, I am feeling MUCH better this week.  As my very loving husband pointed out, it seems I tend to blog when I'm sick and complain about being ill on here.  We'll see if I can change that going forward.

    Tuesday linkys

Hey boys & girls - only 6 more shopping days until this Goddess' birthday....

(all below courtesy of Daily Candy)
    1. This is a somewhat inside joke my friend Ang shares with me.  But it's really true.  No one is the boss of me.
    2. More decadent than any girl really needs.
    3. How could one say no to 1080 Recipes?
    4. For the Darfur or Genocide Prevention activisit, show your support.
    5. Those with a fine stationary fetish like me, customized bookmarks.  Or anything on this site:  http://www.shopheidi.com/

So is anyone else out there struggling to get into the holiday mood like me?

    Monday Linkys

    • I found this blog via Dooce.  Might be added to regular reading, maybe not.  I'm intrigued so far.
    • Another find from Dooce:  100 Ways to Say I Love You.  I think the person that asked for the 100 ways should be banned from using any single mention by the author.  That is way too much creativity in there.
    • I find that this blog tool (MSN Spaces) has some sort of bug that I type, and 60 seconds later my words show up.  It's really annoying.  So that "creativity" I used in the last paragraph originally came out as "cativity".  And hey don't have a spell checker.  Come on already!
    • AHHHHHHH  Jo Malone is now at Nordstrom!  Everyone do the happy dance!
    • Comentary from Alec Baldwin on the strike.  (Courtesy of The Huffington Post, my latest RSS add)

And in other news, I fell last night.  One of those totally stupid, embarassing stories like tripping on the (wire) laundry basket, landing full left-side-of-body on said wire basket and getting approximately 6 bruises in the process.  The worst being the one on my left thigh starting on the inside of my leg, stretching over almost to my knee.  It must be at least 6 or 7 inches long.  I kid you not.  Puts a whole new light on that cute little black dress I planned to wear in L.A. this weekend...  Then a workout with my trainer this morning that worked those muscles and my arms.  I have a headache.  The Ibuprofen is wearing off.  If I wasn't at work right now, I'd be much more medicated than I am presently.  So, I suppose that level of numbness is only 6 hours away...

    Adult ADD

As if one day in a week of linky's wasn't good enough...here my ADD-ladden mind has some more. Or perhaps its because I'm cleaning out my email that I want to capture some of these somewhere that isn't an email message...

And in other news, I saw Henry Rollins Provoked last night.  Now, let me first say I love listening to him talk and his points-of-view on the world.  I always pick up some nugget.  Often times he succeeds at expanding some thought or belief in my mind.  I cannot recount how many times I saw him back in NJ at City Gardens.  I watch his show and special on IFC with attentive eyes and mind.  Not really into the music, more into the spoken word.  That said, he is insane.  He talked for 3 hours and 10 minutes and did not stop until the 3 hour mark to take a quick sip of water and then keep going.  The audience was definitely getting tired (you could see the antsy seat shifting 150 minutes in) and I know I certainly was.  My mind was drifting to the midnight conference call I had to be on.  For a person that is as out-spoken and famous as he is, he is just as insecure as the rest of us.  I think I now have this new perspective that if I saw him walking down the street, I could go up to him and strike up a conversation.  Yep, Henry Rollins.  Of course, it doesn't hurt that he is so easy on the eyes...

    tryin' out more linky's

So, Lavinia left me a comment saying Thanks for the linky's.  I've got some more, this won't necessary be a regular event.  But hey - many things are just too good to keep to yourself...

    • Spam One Liners (as art)
You know what I'm talking about.  Although, the collection is mysteriously missing the "my boyfriend is so small he keep falling out".  Oh - you don't get those?  Hm...what does that say about me?
    • Funky cool jewelry
I may have done this link before, I can hardly keep my life straight these days...
    • Pulp Lab (found on Daily Candy)
Support local artists?  How about a rotating gallery?  Then this place is just right for you.
    • Harvard Sweet Boutique (another Daily Candy find)
I really need NO reason what-so-ever to try out new candy treats.  And these are so pretty.
    • Office Supplies (See Jane Work - you guessed it, Daily Candy)
I have a rather odd fetish for cool office supplies and especially pretty papers.
    • Female Empowerment
To my constant ravings of not having enough girly role models for our children (girls and boys alike) here is some fun Geeky stuff from none other than Gwen Stefani (and HP).

    Tuesday Links

In the spirit of my Geeky friend, I'm doing my own little linky goodness today...

Daily Candy has had some good recommendations that last few days.  Including these favorites of mine...

And more along the lines of commentary I bring you these:

OK, Ellen made a mistake.  She didn't read the fine print on her dog adoption.  It appears to me that she tried to do the right thing by then finding the dog another home.  Not leave it abandoned or dropping it at another shelter.  She went to someone she knew - come on, what woman doesn't have a special bond with her hair stylist? - and that dog went to a family that loves it.  Come on Mutts & Moms, give Iggy back to those two little girls.  I think they should be the ones under fire right now, not Ellen.  Is what she did really any different than any of us?

This story makes me laugh, shake my head and think "Stupid people".  The idea of mixing alcohol and remodel?  Really?  People honestly think this is a good idea?  Power tools people!  Heavy machinery and electricity and hammers.  You really want to be having a beer with that?  Save the party for afterwards.  Toast the new drywall or plumbing after the job is done - not during it.  If you are stupid enough to invite your friends over, who have no experience in home repair/design/improvement, and you hand them multiple alcoholic beverages during the job - then you deserve to pay whatever high price it takes an expert to repair the damage.  Don't even bitch about it.  Don't even go there.
