September 11 Seriously?! ... Palin candidacy sparks working moms debate - U.S. business- msnbc.comHonestly? This is what we are debating on Sarah's qualifications as VP? Now, any reader of my rants knows, I support the Democrats. Palin scares the crap out of me, I do NOT want her in my White House. That said...who the HELL cares that she will be a working mother?! Yes, yes, women still make less than men. Women tend to carry more of the responsibility in house management. Women often CHOOSE a less stressful or powerful job for family. And at the same time, some FAMILIES decide the Mom will be the bread winner and Dad either has a lesser status/paying job or stays at home. Wow, is this really surprising? Could it be that some women could be smarter, more driven, more ambitious than their spouse? Get off it people. Women are NOT the lesser gender. Why would Palin with a young, special needs child and about to become a grandmother be any less qualified, focused or successful than any man in the same place. Are you even suggesting that a father wouldn't rush home in an emergency in the family? That he would not stand by his pregnant, teenage daughter and give her the support and love she needs? My god look at Britney Spears and the wonderous help her father has stepped up to provide (didn't see Lynne doing that did you?). Or any single dad with primary custody, or a widower who can raise his children and work to earn money.
Let's stop looking at our gender differences and focus on the real topic - historical performance, policy support, platform promises. Please look at this when deciding on who to vote for, not that Obama is a minority or Palin is a woman. Don't make this campaign about what is out of our hands (I certainly didn't choose to be a girl, even though I did choose to be a mom) make this campaign about the issues and the candidate you think will drive what you want out of this country.
oh - and by the way - OBAMA/BIDEN !!!
February 16 Rock the VoteI did it. I voted in the Washington Primary. And that means I had to declare a party. Which I have resisted since I first registered at 18. Yikes! Although, I guess there is no denying it any longer...
It was also a bit troubling for me to pick my candidate. I've read up, I've done online quizzes to match me, I've talked and listened to people. It was a really hard choice for me. In the end, I think I did the right thing. I hope we see that candidate on the ballot in November. January 11 Talking about PETA.org // Debate 2008: Road to the GreenhouseThis is great! PETA.org // Debate 2008: Road to the Greenhouse ...the peanut gallery... ...george lollipopulous.... Hysterical!! Go Veg! January 09 Talking about Lee Woodruff: Damned if She Does - Politics on The Huffington PostWell it's about damned time someone called it for what it is! I just wish all of American would read this post. Of course, no one talks about how strong women are and can multi-task/handle difficult situations like a *pro*. Chew on that!! Lee Woodruff: Damned if She Does - Politics on The Huffington Post November 07 US Space Program - fact?Is it sad that I didn't know a shuttle was out exploring? And only know one returned today because of the highlight on MSNBC home page? Have you read or heard these theories about the space program being something we throw money at but don't really commit to? When I was little, I wanted to be an astronaut. Of course, those were elementary school pipe dreams that change as junior high and influences of music, friends and aptitude set in. Could I have been an astronaut? Sure thing. As a teen/young adult did I want it? Hell no! I don't think I'll see any big space revelations in my lifetime. I doubt my child will see them either. So, all those stories I read about living on the moon or some distant space station - unlikely. Or and to bring it into a different light, if we cannot deal with race relations and "all get along" today, how the HELL will we do that with other alien cultures? Seriously! There are some real valid human behavior reasons we may not have had "first contact" yet. (there I go gettin' all geeky on you)
